Aloha everyone! We are so happy to have to you here at Painted Elephants on Parade and hope you enjoy our daily adventures and shenanigans. I started this blog in hopes of creating a place where people can be inspired to travel to new lands, or finally tackle that dream project and maybe to even just get a laugh or two. To really understand this blog, you should probably know a little about me.
I live in Leilani Estates on the Big Island of Hawaii where the husband and I are currently remodeling our first actual house together! (insert happy dance). We share this house with our small Yorkie Shih Tzu; Lucy, our medium Australian Shepard; Hurley and our large and so amazingly fluffy German Shepard/Alaskan Malamute; Reef. Unfortunately, this is the best picture I have of them all together, mostly because I cannot get them to sit still longer than 3 seconds which is extremely frustrating as a photographer. Their cuteness makes up for it.
My husband and I started Silver Octopus Productions almost 3 years ago now when we moved from the Seattle area to Hawaii where we specialize in photography and videography. You can check out everything about our style and business here.
I grew up in North Western Wisconsin and it was actually more fun than you would think. We got to spend summers at our lake house, sledding in the winter and growing up in Green Bay Packer country-you know its just going to be a party (stocked of course with at least 17 different types of cheeses). I have traveled many places with my family and husband in my 23 years including the Caribbean, Canada and a lot of the USA. My favorite place to be though is the Happiest Place on Earth. That’s right…Disney World. Just thinking about it gets me ridiculously excited and I have no shame in that.
Three little known facts about me:
- I hate the smell of licorice. It induces an instant gag reflex.
- I LOVE Halloween but I don’t like being scared. Its a very confusing time of year for me.
- If I could have my way, I would adopt all the homeless dogs in the world and have a massive dog sanctuary. But then I would have to invest in a lot of brooms and Swiffers because the would be a ridiculous amount of dog hair to clean up and I am kind of a neat freak.
I hope that Painted Elephants on Parade makes you as happy as it makes me. I want to share amazing things that I find from day to day and tell my stories so that not only I but anyone that chooses to partake gets a giggle out of our shenanigans.
Your day is only as good as you make it! Let’s have a great one.
